Hey, remember when pirates were the country's all-consuming preoccupation and a threat to the free world, like, two weeks ago? Well they're back, at least for today, as Congress invites hero-captain Richard Phillips — and other, unheroic government experts — to the Hill to testify on the apparently ongoing scourge of piracy. New Jersey senator Frank Lautenberg, the host of the hearings, is releasing a video of the April 14 attack on the Liberty Sun, the Long Island ship that survived a pirate assault days after Captain Phillips was rescued. We get a kick out of the cameraman, who exclaims "They hit my room, man, blew up my bed!" as bullets fly nearby — just don't expect any swashbuckling.
