Soon after Arlen Specter ditched the his longtime party, the GOP, in the face of a likely primary defeat, he reportedly told President Obama that he was now "a loyal Democrat." But on Meet the Press yesterday, the Pennsylvania senator denied he ever said such a thing, telling David Gregory, "I did not say I would be a loyal Democrat. I did not say that." Which is just as well, because it wouldn't have been that credible anyway. [Think Progress]
