Unemployed Now Need to Compete With People Who Will Work for Free

Hey, jobless. We know you've been feeling pretty proactive on your job hunt. You've been personalizing your cover letters, attending career fairs, scouring Monster.com, making follow-up phone calls, enduring "networking" happy hours. But guess what? The competition just got stiffer: “People have been sending their CVs to our New York office saying, ‘hire me for free for six months,’” the head of sales at HDF Finance, a French fund of hedge funds, tells the Journal. “The CVs we are receiving are pretty good.
