Christian Group Blesses Sotomayor Hearing Room, They Hope
We don't know what the security situation is like in the Senate Hart Building in D.C., but it seems a little odd that Reverend Rob Schenck of the Christian group "Faith and Action in the Nation's Capital" was allowed to anoint the door of one of its rooms with prayer oil recently. Not just any room, mind you, but the room where the confirmation hearings of Sonia Sotomayor will be held on July 13 (the seven Jews on the Judiciary Committee will be so pleased). At least, that's what he hopes. Text at the bottom of the screen notes, amusingly, that the location of the Sotomayor hearings hasn't been confirmed so maybe he just blessed the next steroids hearing, or something though "sources" (God?) have pointed them toward Room 216. Schenck seems genuinely interested in fostering a fair, truthful hearing on Sotomayor, but that still doesn't prevent this from being kind of creepy.
