Lower East Side to Get Vegas-Style Wedding Chapel

Well, this is genius. This July, Grand Opening, the event space on Norfolk Street in the Lower East Side, is planning on converting into a quickie wedding chapel, where couples can get married by an official Universal Life Church minister in front of fifteen to twenty of their closest friends and a cheesy backdrop of their choosing. “It will be like Vegas, but classier,” Grand Opening’s Kevin Fey explains in the video on Kickstarter, where they are soliciting donations for funding. Because it’s New York, though, you’ll still have to go and get your license at City Hall — that is, unless you want to get mock married, “for the fun of a wedding without the commitment of marriage.” [Kickstarter, Grand Opening]
