A garbage truck apparently spontaneously caught fire going over the Manhattan Bridge about an hour ago, inflaming the Twitterati. Intern Kate Cusimano is on the scene and reports that although smoke has cleared and the fire trucks have departed, the Brooklyn-bound upper roadway is currently closed, so you may want to avoid the area for the next few hours. Update: "Only the one car was damaged," Kate reports. "One cop thinks it overheated and caused an electrical fire, but no cause has been confirmed yet. " [Business Insider]
