Social Darwinism, Hamptons-Style

As the K-T extinction event wiped out much of life on Planet Earth, leaving behind but a handful of hard-shelled, slithery carrion-eaters, so the Greatest Depression of 2009 has killed off only the weaker members of the privileged class. And survival, it turns out, has only served to strengthen the feelings of infallibility and self-importance in those still standing. One spoke to the Post this weekend:

"Whatever you want to say about the economy, the fact is, it's more selective in the Hamptons this summer," says one young lady at Day & Night who asked not to be named. "It's only a certain kind of person coming out here now, and honestly, that is the kind of person I want to be around."

Pray for an asteroid.
