No Newsstand Bump for Revamped Newsweek

This May, Newsweek underwent a radical redesign, which overhauled the content, layout, and style of the magazine. It was an ambitious bid to reposition the magazine as digital media made the newsweekly business increasingly tough. It may not be working out so well, though. According to the Observer, the mag "sold an average of 66,702 copies off the newsstand in its first six weeks since the redesign versus the 66,533 issues that it averaged for the previous 18 issues in 2009." In the last four available weeks, the newsstand sales slid steadily from 85,000 to 50,000. [NYO]
