Would You Vote for Alec Baldwin?

Alec Baldwin has long mused about a potential career in politics. He once told New York that he'd like to be a senator. In 2006 he told The New York Times Magazine, "If I ever ran for anything, the thing I would like to be is governor of New York," and in 2008 he told 60 Minutes, "There's no age limit on running for office, to a degree. Something I might do, one day." But he got a little more specific in Playboy last week. He could move to Connecticut and challenge Joe Lieberman for Senate, he said ("I have no use for him"), or run for a slew of different positions in New York — including senator ("How much longer will Chuck Schumer stay as senator?"), mayor ("After 2013 Bloomberg will be gone. What happens then?"), or congressman. Maybe someone will get sick and die, he pointed out, creepily. Watch your back, Representative Tim Bishop — your loss could be Baldwin's gain!

Further indicating that Baldwin might be moving closer to making his political dreams a reality is his Huffington Post entry from last night. "Running for public office involves among the most sacred trusts that one can enter into," he wrote, "and I would like to give that a lot of serious thought before I decide if that is right for me and the voters I would potentially serve." The question is, if Alec Baldwin runs for office in New York, would you vote for him? Have you tired of the celebrity-candidate trend, or do you think he could do just as good a job as career politicians? Is he too flagrantly, outspokenly liberal, or is that an attractive quality? Does anyone still care about the time he was mean to his daughter?
