Former Vice-President Dick Cheney took to Fox News Sunday yesterday to continue his crusade against the Obama administration's efforts to find out the truth regarding enhanced, and possibly illegal, interrogation techniques used by the CIA under the Bush administration. "I just think it's an outrageous political act that will do great damage, long-term, to our capacity to be able to have people take on difficult jobs, make difficult decisions, without having to worry about what the next administration is going to say," he said in regard to the appointment of special prosecutor John Durham to look into suspected abuses. (Attorney General Holder's team says he set the investigation in motion independent of the president.) Cheney even said he supported CIA agents who went beyond what was deemed legal under Bush, arguing that they were keeping America safe. But he said he may not cooperate with the probe itself. "It will depend on the circumstances and what I think their activities are really involved in," Cheney said. "I've been very outspoken in my views on this matter." So ... talking endlessly on Fox News about your opinions on enhanced interrogation = a great idea. Talking under oath on the same topic to investigators trying to find out the truth on behalf of the American people = totally questionable. Good to know.
