Wall Street Wives Doing Their Part to Stimulate the Economy

Because we’ve been paying far too much attention to the people who make billions of dollars and not nearly enough to the people who spend it, “Page Six” today offers us a double sighting of Wall Street wives: Up in Sun Valley, Idaho, Kathy Fuld, the wife of former Lehman Brothers CEO Richard Fuld, was spotted spending money at a store called the Elephant Perch, as if Lehman wasn’t sacrificed so that Goldman could live. Meanwhile, in the Hamptons, Goldman Sachs CEO Lloyd Blankfein’s wife, Laura Blankfein, and Susan Friedman, wife of Goldman distressed-debt specialist Richard Friedman, reportedly “caused a huge scene” when asked to wait in line at Super Saturday in the Hamptons last weekend.

Their behavior was obnoxious. They were screaming,” said one witness. Blankfein said she wouldn’t wait with “people who spend less money than me.”

Nice one, ladies. Didn’t Lloyd tell you not to buy anything, not to attract attention?
