A woman who survived the Holocaust and was living out of a shopping cart on the streets of Manhattan had secretly amassed nearly $300,000. When she died two years ago, she left a large chunk of it to Hebrew University in Jerusalem, and the rest to other charities. "No one knows where she got it from," Hebrew University's Yefet Ozery says. "But she probably lived penny to penny. She probably saved it to do good for the world and for the Jewish people."
