Opponents to Maine's recent gay-marriage legislation garnered enough signatures, as expected, to get the issue on the ballot in November. The same-sex nuptials were supposed to begin this month, but were put on hold as the secretary of State counted signatures. Governor John Baldacci, who said he "fully" supports the bill he signed into law, said: "I am confident that Maine voters will make the right decision on this important issue when they cast their ballots in the fall."
