Max Baucus Is Done Waiting, Almost

As the hours tick off until Obama's big speech tonight, progress is being made on a long-stalled Senate bill. Democratic Finance Committee chairman Max Baucus of Montana, who's been toiling for months with his "Gang of Six" to create a plan with bi-partisan support, has decided that he's going to push ahead with a bill by September 21, no matter what. “Irrespective of whether there are any Republicans, I will move forward,” he said today. “We have to move forward. If there are not any Republicans on board, I will move forward in any event.” To sum up: moving forward. [Prescriptions/NYT]
