Michael Moore’s New Movie Was Brought to You by Goldman Sachs

Ira Stoll of the Future of Capitalism makes the amusing point that Paramount Vantage, the distributor for Michael Moore's Capitalism: A Love Story, is controlled by Viacom, "on whose board sit none other than Sumner Redstone and former Bear Stearns executive Ace Greenberg, who aren't exactly socialists." Meanwhile, executive producers Harvey and Bob Weinstein's Weinstein Company was, as we know funded with a billion dollars raised by Goldman Sachs. "Knowing that background puts the rest of the movie in a different context," writes Stoll. In particular, the scene where Moore shows up at Goldman Sachs headquarters and announces, "We're here to get the money back for the American people." "Maybe Mr. Moore should look in his own pockets." Zing.
