Yesterday the New York Times asked Pedro Espada why he recently hired as his deputy chief of staff a man who supervised buildings with 1,100 “immediately hazardous” violations and had been “named in more than 100 court cases in which the city or tenants sought to force building repairs.” Soon after, Espada fired the man, Onix A. Sosa. “I was shocked and, quite frankly, blindsided by this revelation,” the senate majority leader said in a statement. We’re not. [NYT]
