New Yorker Running for Idaho Senate — From New York

  • 10/29/09 at 2:46 PM

Brooklyn's William Bryk, a historian, lawyer, and former contributor to the New York Sun and the New York Press, has announced a quixotic candidacy for senator of Idaho — a state he does not live in and has never visited. Bryk, motivated by the fact that Republican incumbent Mike Crapo ran unopposed in 2004, is taking advantage of a quirky state election law that allows anybody to run for Senate as long as they reside in the state by voting day. He promises that he'll move to Idaho if he secures the Democratic nomination, which — considering that he has raised literally no money and, again, lives in Brooklyn — is not something that will happen. "A" for effort, though. [Spokesman-Review via 1010 Wins]
