Back in May, Observer owner Jared Kushner announced that longtime writer and editor Tom McGeveran would serve as interim editor of the salmon-tinted weekly. Today the paper reports that that "interim" period will end at the end of the year, with McGeveran leaving to pursue another opportunity. "I have to thank Jared for giving me the opportunity I've had to work with this great staff and to make The New York Observer," he said in a statement. "But I'm moving on to something new, and as sad as it makes me to leave, change is good and I wish Jared and The Observer all the best." In a letter to the staff, in which he praised their work and the changes the paper has undergone in the past five months, McGeveran only said that his next gig is "a new venture I've been concocting for some time now." He's said he'll stay on to help find his own replacement.
