Fox News Buoys News Corp. Profits

Lifted by unprecedented success at Fox News, and a strong showing by its big-budget films this year, Rupert Murdoch's News Corp. showed surprising growth. They reported a net income of $571 million, or 22 cents per share (analysts expected only 18 cents per share). Neither of the media giant's rivals Time Warner and Viacom, who earlier reported third-quarter results, performed as well. [NYT]
