The map on the left shows the results of Tuesday's mayoral race — red represents votes for Bloomberg, blue for Thompson. The map on the right shows the density of white people throughout New York City according to the 2000 census — red is a high percentage of white people, yellow is a fair preponderance of white people, and green is not that many white people. That white areas of the city tended to vote more for Bloomberg and non-white areas voted more for Thompson is not a shocking revelation, but it's still kind of striking to see how closely the two maps align.
