Oh Snap! Moderate Republican Dede Scozzafava Endorses Democrat

In a statement sent out this afternoon by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, Dede Scozzafava, the moderate Republican who dropped out of a three-candidate upstate New York Congressional race yesterday in a move Republicans expected to help her conservative party opponent, has turned around and done publicly what she’s rumored to have been doing privately since she dropped out of the race: endorsed the Democrat, Bill Owens:

I am supporting Bill Owens for Congress and urge you to do the same,” she said. “In Bill Owens, I see a sense of duty and integrity that will guide him beyond political partisanship. He will be an independent voice devoted to doing what is right for New York. Bill understands this district and its people, and when he represents us in Congress he will put our interests first.”

Who knows whether this will matter in Tuesday’s election, but it’ll be nice to see the Facebook fit notorious Scozzafava-snubber Sarah Palin will throw if Owens wins.
