  • 11/5/09 at 3:34 PM

News stations are reporting that a brutal attack on the military base at Fort Hood, Texas, has left seven dead and at least twelve twenty wounded. Schools in the area have been shut down. We'll keep you posted as we know more.
Update: According to CNN, at least one person is "neutralized" in connection with the incident, and a second is "cornered." Some television reports indicated there is yet another potential shooter on the loose, but that's not confirmed. Officials are urging people in the area to stay indoors and away from windows, no matter what.
Update 2: The military has upped the toll to twelve confirmed deaths, including one of the gunmen.
Update 3: "A shooter entered the Soldier's Readiness Center and opened fire," a Fort Hood spokesman told the press just now. "The shooter was killed. He was a soldier. We have apprehended two additional soldiers that are suspects. There are eyewitness accounts that suggest that there may have been one or more shooter."
Update 4: Military officials report that the total number of injured victims is now 32.
