A man selling CDs in Times Square took off running when a police officer reportedly asked him for his permit. While running, the man, for some reason, took out a gun and fired at the officer giving chase, as tourists scrambled for cover. The officer, who was unharmed, then shot the man in front of the Marriott Marquis. He was taken to Roosevelt Hospital, where he died. [NYDN, NY1]
