Recession be damned: A multi-million-dollar property in Sag Harbor Village is headed for the record books. A source says an eight-bedroom, seven-bath, “Nantucket-style cottage” asking $15.995 million is in contract and expected to close imminently. It’s practically average by Hamptons circa-2006 standards, but certainly impressive for the village; if it sells for anywhere near the asking, it will best any previous sale in the area by millions. The 8,200-square-foot house, repped by broker Tara Newman of Saunders & Associates, who was responsible for the previous village record of $6.8 million (for the Hannibal French house on Main Street), sits on approximately two acres and includes a putting green, gym, sauna, theater, and wine-tasting room “with special air filtration for cigar smokers,” for those people who don’t feel the need to spend time outdoors enjoying the 200 feet of sand fronting the bay.
