Obama to Hold Bipartisan Health Care Session

In an interview with Katie Couric that aired before the Super Bowl, President Obama announced he will hold a televised bipartisan health care summit later this month. Obama said he will meet with both Democrats and Republicans next week in anticipation of the half-day session, scheduled for February 25.

I want to come back and have a large meeting, Republicans and Democrats, to go through systematically all the best ideas that are out there and move it forward,” the President said.

This announcement comes on the heels of the President’s fielding a televised 90-minute question-and-answer session with House Republicans last week which helped quell concerns that the health care reform meetings have not been held in the open.
