Tiger Woods to Publicly Apologize Friday (Updated)

We’ve been hearing for a while now that Tiger Woods was in meetings with PGA Tour organizers about returning to the course at next month’s Tavistock tournament. But now, feisty new Fox Business News team member Charlie Gasparino has announced that he’s hearing a public apology from Woods is also “imminent.” “It could occur as early as tomorrow sometime around 11 a.m.,” Gasparino said, citing sponsor sources but conceding he didn’t have confirmation from Woods’s camp. “There’s going to be an announcement of the public apology that will be done at a press conference some time tonight.” Mediaite, which has been following the developments, also tells us that Fox News’ Gregg Jarrett added that Woods will not even be in the same room as any reporters. “They’re going to be in an adjacent room watching a closed feed,” unable to ask questions, Jarrett said. “Now this is going to be a conversation that Tiger’s going to be having with a group of friends, colleagues, and close associates.” All we have to say is, it’s about time. After everything he did to us, we’re really the ones due an apology.

Update: According to his agent Mark Steinberg, Woods will make a statement to “friends, associates and colleagues” at 11 a.m. Friday morning from the Professional Golfer’s Association’s headquarters in Florida. The PGA will stream the statement live. In it, Steinberg says, the golfer will “discuss his past and his future and he intends to apologize for his behavior.”
