Daily News Maybe Moving Downtown?

Just as Gay Men’s Health Crisis is controversially eyeing a move to 450 W. 33rd Street, Daily News owner Mort Zuckerman is considering moving his newspaper operations out. According to Jeff Bercovici, he’s been talking to brokers about moving somewhere downtown — and even considered The Wall Street Journal’s old offices in the World Financial Center. Zuckerman may be looking for something a little smaller and more modern — the News has gone through three employee buyouts in three years, and their vast reporters’ rooms can very easily feel a little empty. But then again, as Bercovici notes, they may need some extra space if they’re going to have to accommodate the soon-to-be-homeless Newsweek. [Daily Finance]
