Cathie Black, who for a while now has been eyeing an exit from her post as president of Hearst Magazines, has moved into the chairman role at the group and been replaced by
David Carey, a group president at Condé Nast who oversees Wired, Golf Digest, and Golf World. Carey follows Richard Beckman and Tom Florio out the door, creating a sort of exodus of magazine men who didn’t want to wait around for CEO Chuck Townsend to retire. [Media Decoder/NYT]
