the most important wedding in the world

Journal: Chelsea Clinton’s Wedding to Feature Blue Ribbon Catering

It must be pretty easy for bride-to-be Chelsea Clinton to figure out who is leaking details about her hush-hush nuptials to the press. After all, guests at the July 31 event don’t yet know where they are going, or even staying, and won’t until shortly beforehand — so the number of people who could be letting out the tidbits of information gathered by papers like the Post is pretty limited. Today the Journal’s Erica Orden fills us in on some more rumored elements of the Rhinebeck, New York affair: The rehearsal dinner, for example, will be held “in a stone barn on a 525-acre estate called Grasmere.” (It’s already been reported that the reception will take place under a tent at Astor Courts, the old country estate of John Jacob Astor IV.)

And there’s more: A bottle of local Clinton Vineyards wine (fittingly) will greet guests as they arrive, even those that will be coming by helicopter. Orden reports that Blue Ribbon will share catering duties with the St. Regis and Olivier Cheng Catering, and Boston-based Winston Flowers will provide flowers along with designer Jeff Leatham. Several of these vendors have denied they’re working on the Clinton wedding, but that’s to be expected: the overwhelming push for privacy has left many in Rhinebeck convinced that this is all a decoy, and that the real wedding will take place someplace else, where the media isn’t looking.
