Blago Jury Sends Cryptic Note to Judge

The jurors in the Rod Blagojevich case — now in their eleventh day of deliberations — have indicated they may be deadlocked, though no one is totally sure what's going on with them. The jury sent Judge James Zagel a note explaining that they made a “reasonable attempt” to come to a unanimous decision and wanted to know what they should do if they aren’t able to reach such a decision on any given count. Zagel read the note in court, and said he would send the jury a note back asking them to be clearer about what they meant. The attorneys present said they weren't sure how to interpret the note — the third the jury has sent to the judge since deliberations began — either. Weren't text messages invented to avoid situations like this?
