Fox News Will Not Cover the Koran Burning [Updated]

We do not cover every flag burning that happens in this country. We don’t run every hostage tape,” Fox News exec Michael Clemente told the Baltimore Sun, regarding Pastor Terry Jones’s much-hyped plans to burn Korans on September 11. “If we tried to cover everyone who wants us to stick a camera in front of them, we’d run out of cameras pretty fast each day. But this is really about just using some judgment … He’s one guy in the middle of the woods with 50 people in his congregation who’s decided to try, I gather, to bring some attention to himself by saying he’s going to burn a Koran if he gets the permit. Well, you know what, there are many more important things going on in the world than that. I don’t know what they will be this weekend, but I am sure they will be more important than that.”

Update: Koran burning canceled! Point moot!

Okay. So is this decision:

1. Simply correct, because he’s right, it’s really somebody with no influence at all using hateful sensationalism to garner attention, and there is no reason to give it to him?
2. Actually noble, because while Terry Jones has the right to burn whatever book he wants, we also have the right to ignore him, and doing so might actually protect our troops and muffle a voice of hate?
3. A publicity stunt built on top of another publicity stunt?
4. Kind of hypocritical, because of the fearmongering Fox News itself has propagated regarding the Cordoba House project, which was part of the increasingly heated dialogue that led up to this ridiculous move in the first place?
5. All of the above?
