That sound you hear is Democrats taking a deep breath. A new Marist poll shows Andrew Cuomo up by nineteen points among likely voters (this comes a couple of days after another poll showed Republican gubernatorial candidate Carl Paladino within six points).
He’s maintaining his lead by locking down the votes of women and the apathetic. According to the poll’s internal data, women support Cuomo by a 35-point margin and voters who call themselves “not enthusiastic” say they’ll pull the lever for him at a similar rate. The race is basically tied both among men and voters who call themselves “very enthusiastic” (read: talk-radio callers).
