Madonna’s Publicist Journalistically Castrates Enterprising Reporter

The celebrity journalism world can be a game of give and take, like when you give press to Material Girl, Madonna and Lourdes Leon’s fashion line at its launch, and in exchange try to get the most famous living woman in the world to, perhaps, comment on Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher’s rumored marital problems, even though those rumors are largely irrelevant to the event you’re attending and, actually, not really worth angering Madonna over. Alas, some determined gossip hound from The Insider decided to do just that last week, according to the Post. Naturally, when the reporter blurted out, “What do you think about Ashton and Demi breaking up,” Madonna’s longtime publicist Liz Rosenberg reportedly slapped the microphone right out of the reporter’s hand, so that it landed at Madonna’s and Lourdes’s feet. The two celebrities apparently acted as if nothing had happened, no mike had fallen, and no intrusive question has been asked. The Insider reporter merely stood there, terrified and quote-less, balls-shrunken. Rosenberg, equally committed to her job, pointed a finger at the reporter and said, “Bad girl!”

Another journalist had planned to ask Madonna about her stalker, who had just been arrested with a seven-inch ice pick. But the reporter told the Post, “After what happened to the ‘The Insider,’ none of us tried to ask more than three questions, and everything was about the clothes. Liz Rosenberg is scarier than Madonna. We were so scared.” Yep, a lesson in the world of celebrity journalism, learned the hard way.
