White House Apologizes for Turning Away War Hero’s Family Over Shorts

The White House has issued an apology in light of the oddest of mini-scandals after the family of a Medal of Honor recipient was turned away from an exclusive tour of the Oval Office because the late veteran’s 10-year-old grandson was wearing shorts. On Saturday, the widow and grandson of the late Vernon Baker, the last surviving black Medal of Honor winner from World War II, arrived at the White House for a special tour of the West Wing. But the staffer in charge of the operation was unsure about 10-year-old Vernon Pawlik’s outfit — shorts and a T-shirt bearing his grandfather’s picture — and turned them away.

After criticism from Idaho senator Mike Crapo and others over the incident, the White House came forth with a public apology to the Baker family Thursday.

The question is: Will Vernon dare wear shorts again or will he opt for pants?!?!
