Republicans Are Raising a Lot More Money Than the Democrats

It’s not just Sharron Angle. Politico looks at the top twenty Senate races and finds that the GOP candidate has hauled in more cash than the Democrat in eighteen of them. The two exceptions are California’s Barbara Boxer — who won in 2004 by twenty points but is now barely ahead of Carly Fiorina — and Colorado’s Michael Bennet:

GOP-ers in these marquee contests had more than $50 million left in the bank to spend entering the month of October, compared with the combined $33.6 million for their Democratic opponents.

Republican Senate candidates also outraised their Democratic opponents over the past three months by more than $17 million—$57 million to $39.5 million.

It’s news that’s pretty hard to spin. (And it’s a similar situation in the House.)
