President Obama was looking to turn the page on his midterm “shellacking” by meeting with congressional leaders from both parties on Thursday. They planned to discuss tax cuts and other economic issues, in the hope of finding something to compromise on. If Obama really wants to meet with Republicans, and Republican leaders don’t want Obama to score any political points, does pushing the meeting back until the end of the month count as a compromise?
