Thomson Reuters Launches Editorial Overhaul

As part of an effort to “raise the profile” of the venerable wire service, Thomson Reuters editor-in-chief Stephen Adler has brought on Pulitzer Prize–winning journalist Paul Ingrassia to be his deputy. Ingrassia is a former president of the Dow Jones news wires and worked with Adler at The Wall Street Journal. Other Journal alumni headed to Reuters include former general counsel Stuart Karle, who will serve as COO, and former Asian Wall Street Journal editor Reginald Chua, who will become “data editor.” Meanwhile, Adler’s fourth big hire comes from another Murdoch property: The Daily. Jim Gaines was managing editor of the tablet tabloid, and he’ll serve as “ethics editor” for Reuters. Gaines is the latest in a long string of staff defections from The Daily, which launched back in February.
