Glenn Beck Invented His Very Own Groupon

Now that he’s slated to leave his post as Fox News’s resident blackboard theorist, Glenn Beck has to find a way to keep making money off his fans. And it looks as though Beck’s company, Mercury Radio Arts, decided to start with the tech bubble. After what we imagine was a rousing debate over launching a Facebook copycat (GlennBeckBook? FaceGlenn.com?), Mercury opted instead to emulate another tech darling, discount deals provider, Groupon. Via a new website called Markdown.com, the savvy weepy political analyst will sell one to two discounted products and services per week. The site kicks off with two deals: a $10 voucher for $20 of chocolate on Chocolate.com and a 55 percent discount on a credit-score monitoring product made by LifeLock. Chocolate and credit scores don’t sound quite survivalist enough for Beck’s crowd. But it’s probably only a matter of time before its hawking 55 percent off disaster kits and gold coins.
