How exciting was it for David Paterson when he first heard that he would become the next governor of New York? This exciting, his wife, Michelle Paterson, tells the Post:
“He was very upset. He didn’t think he was up to it. His first words were, ‘I think I’ll kill myself.’ And I answered, ‘Then who will be governor?’”
Actually, the governor would have been Senate President Pro Tempore Joe Bruno. Not the best choice, since he was already under investigation for various things, but still, the line of succession was perfectly clear. Not that we wish Paterson had committed suicide. For all his faults, he’s a sweetheart of a man, and besides, that Fred Armisen impression was classic.
