Tolls on Hudson River Crossings Could Get Jacked Up 50 Percent
The Port Authority plans to officially propose a set of toll hikes for the bridges and tunnels that cross the Hudson River and connect Staten Island to New Jersey, moving the E-ZPass peak fare to $12 from $8 this fall and jacking the price another $2 in 2014. The plan, designed to wring much-needed revenue for the agency, would also include a $1 fare hike for PATH commuters, bringing that ticket price to $2.75. [City Room/NYT]
