Warren is also profiled in Vanity Fair. And she has raised a crapload of money from her many fans. She is, in the liberal mind, what Barack Obama was in 2008 — a pure outsider, uncorrupted by politics, and an articulate spokesperson for ideals that seem both mainstream and thrillingly liberal.
It couldn’t last for Obama, but serving in the Senate — assuming she wins, which I expect to happen — can protect a politician from the responsibility to compromise.
