over-suspicious

Iranian TV Shows Confession of ‘U.S. Spy’

On Sunday, Iranian state television Fars released a video showing a man confessing to be a spy for the CIA. The man is identified as Amir Mirzaei Hekmati. He was born in Arizona and, according to the video, sent to Iran after high school to run espionage missions. The CIA declined to comment.

No one’s quite up in arms just yet — we’ve been here before. Last month an Iranian legislator said the Intelligence Ministry had arrested twelve CIA spies. And in May, the Intelligence minister said that they captured 30 U.S. and Israeli spies. In which case, their spy-capturing productivity is slipping.

Here’s the video. Hekmati first appears at 0:52.
