Who’s your favorite New Yorker, living or dead, real or fictional?
Jo Stockton, Audrey Hepburn’s character in Funny Face. She played a bookstore clerk in Greenwich Village who suddenly found herself in front of a camera. One of my favorite jobs was working in a bookstore in San Francisco.

What’s the best meal you’ve eaten in New York?
Delicious grasshopper tacos at Toloache Mexican restaurant. “Best” in that … it’s grasshoppers! And they tasted good! But to be honest? I couldn’t get past the reality (read: crunch) of it all.

In one sentence, what do you actually do all day in your job?
Read newspapers, read the Internet, read magazines, read blogs, read research, read out loud, read scripts, read the TelePrompTer (and try to make it look like I’m not really reading), then ad lib all my unscripted questions during live interviews, then read some more.

A hostess at a restaurant during graduate school; I quit twice.

Love, Loss and What I Wore with a group of girlfriends and Relatively Speaking with my husband.

Anything pink. (Pink margaritas. Pink champagne. Pellegrino mixed with cranberry juice).

Never early enough.

Which do you prefer, the old Times Square or the new Times Square?
Old Times Square from the twenties through the forties. I just saw a photo of that time period at the Museum of the City of New York’s *City Grid* exhibit. Looking at those photos makes me nostalgic for a time I’ll never know.

What do you think of Donald Trump?
I think of how both of his sons a few years ago told me in our makeup room at Fox that I have the same “hair swoop” as him — color and style!  My husband has affectionately named this hairstyle “the visor” when my bangs are particularly shellacked by hairspray over my forehead. Luckily, my most recent stylists prevent this from happening.

What do you hate most about living in New York?
The city in the pouring rain – I’ll take a snowstorm any day compared to a rainstorm.

Who is your mortal enemy?
Dust bunnies in my apartment that NEVER GO AWAY. I clean, dust, vacuum, and they’re back the next day.

When’s the last time you drove a car?
New Year’s Eve. My husband and I road tripped it back to New York from his native Texas in his Chevy pick-up truck.

How has the Wall Street crash affected you?
It’s made me afraid.

TimesPost, or Daily News?
All three.

Where do you go to be alone?
That’s classified.

What makes someone a New Yorker?
When you’ve mastered the urban compass: When someone tells you to get off the subway at the northeast corner … or southwest … and you intuitively know which direction to walk in. Or when you’ve found your place to go alone.
