There has been little-to-no indication that Mayor Bloomberg is interested in or contemplating an independent bid for president this year, but that hasn’t stopped his supporters from dreaming. Just last week, for example, the New York Times’s Thomas Friedman wrote his approximately 400th column on the subject. So when we ran into Georgina Bloomberg, Hizzoner’s 29-year-old daughter, at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center Spring Gala last night, we wanted to know if she was a supporter of the Draft Bloomberg movement. “I feel that, age-wise, this is probably his chance if he’s going to do it,” she told us. “And, I know that he’s said that he doesn’t want to, but I think he’d be great if decided to run.” In other words, she wants him to give it a shot? “Yes,” she confirmed, “but only if he wants to run.

While the Post reported on Tuesday that the Romney campaign is using John McCain to try to secure the mayor’s endorsement, Georgina told us that she honestly doesn’t know “what [her dad’s] opinion is on the presidential election.” Personally, she’s backing Obama, but she and the mayor don’t talk about politics much. “He does that stuff all day, so when we talk,” she says, it’s more about “sports, riding, and what ever is going on in my life.”

For example, her burgeoning media empire: Georgina is working on her third equestrian-themed young-adult novel, and is hoping to turn them into a TV show. “We want to do an ABC Family type of show, because that’s what the book is geared toward,” she says. “I think it could be a Gossip Girl-meets-the-equestrian-world show.”
