In a shocking development, the very large and large-living founder of Megaupload — the guy with the $24 million mansion, fleet of sports cars, and custom license plates that said “GOD,” “CEO,” and “GUILTY” — fancies himself a media personality worthy of many mediums. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Kim Dotcom will be the subject of a documentary called Mega Conspiracy, the U.S. government’s own clever phrase for his alleged copyright infractions, as well as a biography being helmed by the egomaniacal journalist and self-proclaimed “world’s most legendary pick-up artist” Neil Strauss, truly a fitting collaborator. Dotcom’s previously teased album is also supposedly on its way.
Dotcom is free on bail in New Zealand, but could face extradition to the U.S. at an August 20 court hearing in a case that’s had its complications in the last few months. Although the documentary is being produced in part by a “friend and business associate” of Dotcom’s (along with the son of singer Donovan, to make things weirder), it is striving to be a fair portrayal of the massive, now-defunct downloading portal. “If it is under Kim’s direction, it is not a documentary, it is a freaking commercial for Mega. That’s what we are avoiding,” said one of the filmmakers.
The embattled founder is more than able to do his own bidding anyway. This week, he followed up the Kim Kardashian and Kanye West–assisted “Mega Song” with a new one called “Amensia,” a political diss track aimed at a New Zealand politician, which you can sample below. The album, meanwhile, “starts in the electronica category,” but also “has romantic ballads.” Can’t wait.
