The story goes that fifteen years ago, a bunch of Talkeetna’s residents were unhappy with candidates for mayor, so they organized a successful write-in campaign for a newborn cat named Stubbs, and he’s been the mayor ever since. So, to sum up, the only two famous Alaskan mayors are Stubbs the Cat and Sarah Palin.
