Canadian Radio Duo Prank Calls U.N. Chief

Canadian radio comic duo “The Masked Avengers” pulled one over on U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon Thursday amid the busiest week of Ban’s entire year. “The Masked Avengers” a.k.a. Les Justiciers Masqués a.k.a. Sébastien Trudel and Marc-Antoine Audette of Montreal radio station CKOI-FM, called and pretended to be Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper and apologized for missing the U.N. General Assembly meeting because faux-Harper was “too busy combing his hair with super glue,” Reuters reports. Actually not too far-fetched. The Secretary-General, who was actually pulled out of a meeting for the call, figured it out when the duo asked him to speak with NHL commissioner Gary Bettman to help deliver a hockey team to Quebec. “The Secretary-General quickly understood that it was a prank, and he took it in the way that it was intended, as a joke,” Ban’s spokesman said. “These things happen.” Indeed they do — the Avengers have also duped Sarah Palin and Charlie Sheen, among others. Said Prime Minister Harper’s director of communications, “Well played . The PM always welcomes a chance to speak with the people of Quebec but we do usually like to know about it first.”
