Gigantic slab of orange-tinted meat Hulk Hogan is devastated after his ex-bestie Bubba the Love Sponge, a radio D.J., allowed the big guy to have sex with his (now former) wife and somebody surreptitiously taped the entire un-sexy encounter. Six years later, the grainy, unsettling footage turned up on Gawker, and Hogan just doesn’t know if he’ll ever get over it, according to the lawsuits he’s filed against Bubba, the guys’ shared dirty dancing partner, and the gossip blog messenger. The invasion of privacy has caused the former reality star “severe and irreparable injury which cannot be adequately compensated by monetary damages,” but $100 million from Gawker would apparently begin the healing process. Oh, and the rights to the film while we’re at it, for a rainy day.
Cameron Stracher, a lawyer for Gawker Media, told Daily Intel that Hogan and his lawyer have also filed a motion this morning for a preliminary injunction and a temporary restraining order, in hopes of having the tape taken down. “A preliminary junction against the media is a very extraordinary thing,” said Stracher, who argued that the footage, disturbing as it may be for everyone involved, is protected by the First Amendment and has news value.
“There’s no doubt that this tape is newsworthy and of interest to the public,” Stracher said. “Hulk’s lawsuit is based on the premise that this is private and not of any public interest,” he added. “Hulk is having sex with a married woman, in her house. What kind of expectation of privacy do you have in another person’s house when you’re having sex with their wife?”
