Daily News Office Sunk by Sandy

The New York Daily News headquarters at 4 New York Plaza was damaged so badly during Hurricane Sandy that “we have just leased some other space for nine months to a year just to make sure that we can keep the magazine and the newspaper going,” said owner Mort Zuckerman at a real-estate conference today, the Observer reports. “We suffered dramatically on the publishing side because the U.S. News and the Daily News offices were at the southernmost part of Manhattan and their offices were just destroyed.” The tabloid didn’t miss an issue after the storm thanks to the generosity of other local papers, but its employees will have to get used to a home again, just over a year since moving downtown.
