Inert Bike-Share Equipment Hit by Hurricane Sandy

The oft-delayed New York City bike-share program is currently “making an assessment” about whether the spring 2013 launch will be pushed back again after its storage facility was flooded during Hurricane Sandy, the New York Times reports. Bikes and docking stations were sitting unused in a Brooklyn Navy Yard building, one of many hit with as much as six feet of water from the storm. “We’re working on it,” said transportation commissioner Janette Sadik-Khan, who knows as well as anyone how great those bikes would’ve been while the subways were down.
